Friday Finds: 9 Pieces - 9 Ways

With summer comes travel and I don't know about you, but packing always stresses me out! I either tend to under-pack or over-pack and it is usually the latter of the two. Not to mention that I hate having to check luggage so I am always trying to cram everything in my carry-on bag. With that being said, I have been thinking of ways to maximize my summer wardrobe, thus making packing a whole lot easier! Today, I have put together nine looks using nine key clothing items, all of which are from Target (the shoes and accessories are too)! You could purchase the nine clothing items for under $200, just another one of the many reasons why I love Target. Check out the looks below.

Three-fer Thursday Link Up

It's that time again for Three-fer Thursday Link Up! Thank you to those who linked up last week! We loved reading your posts, and it was hard to choose only three to feature! Thank you for all of the fabulous inspiration!

Now, onto the featured three...

Ainslee of A Beautiful Heart pattern mixed with anchors and polka dots while keeping everything in the navy family. Not sure about you, but we love the nautical vibe. And that bag! Need we say more?!

Elvy of Pigtails & Pearls styled a perfect, colorful summer look using neon pink and stripes. That skirt is definitely a summer staple!

We loved how Angela of Simply Sweet Southerner paired the adorable seahorse blouse with mint skinnies and the beaded rose necklace. Don't be surprised if you see us wearing this combo soon!

Color Mix Necklace

I recently purchased a look for less Color Mix Necklace (here) and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I'm sure you have already noticed my gravitation towards colorful items so when this necklace became available I knew it was a "must have". If you are on the fence about this necklace, let me just say that it does not disappoint, it goes with practically everything in my closet! Here are just a few ways you could style it, not to mention that it also looks fabulous dressed up.

Color Mix with Shorts & Polka Dots

I'm not sure where you live, but here in Texas the weather has been so unpredictable lately, it's warm enough to wear shorts, but cooler in the evenings. Try pairing chambray with shorts for a casual chic look while remaining comfortable in varying temperatures. I love the polka dot chambray shirt paired with the color mix necklace and this straw clutch for a fun feminine look! This would be perfect for sipping cocktails on a patio with the girls.

Color Mix with Boyfriend Jeans & Flats

One of my favorite casual looks is to pair boyfriend jeans with flats (these are the most comfy flats I own) and a statement necklace. Believe it or not, I used to think that you had to be dressed up in order to wear a statement necklace, but I have learned that you can easily dress them up or down for any occasion. I would have never thought in a million years that I would be out running errands in a necklace like the color mix, but I have in fact done just that and even received compliments while doing so!

Color Mix with Chambray and Mini Skirt
Chambray | Mini SkirtWedgesNecklace | Bangles | Sunglasses

One of the easiest things to throw on in the summer is a comfy skirt and wedges. I'm loving these paired with the color mix to add a fun pop of color. And there I go again with chambray, isn't it one of the most versatile items you own?! I think this would be perfect for date night.

How would you wear the Color Mix Necklace?

Anchors Away

Happy Monday, darlings! Hopefully you are enjoying the day off today! I plan to have lunch with a couple of the girls and then spend the afternoon with my hubby and pups. And speaking of Mondays, I could not be more excited that there is only one more Monday left for this school year, only eight more days to go!!

Anyway, if you follow me on Instagram (@bma_21) you will see that I typically have an outfit of the day post every day, a lot of which never make it to the blog. Why? There are several reasons, the main one being a lack of a photographer. I did order a tripod and a remote to try and remedy this, but to be honest I haven't even had the time to try it out. With that being said, I am toying with the idea of doing an Instagram-Inspired post every other week or so where I would recreate a look I wore and design a style board for you to shop the look in case you see anything you like.

This is an outfit I posted this weekend that quite a few people "liked". I managed to snag this tee during the J.Crew Factory 50% off sale on Friday! My sandals are the Target version, but they are sold out since I bought them last season.

Friday Finds: Graphic Espadrilles

Happy Friday! The espadrille has been around for centuries maybe even thousands of years. It is estimated that these shoes are around 4000 years old. This light sandal, made with jute rope or braided hemp and with linen fabric, comes from Spain. Today, espadrilles are still extremely popular especially in the summer. They are as comfy as flip flops, but much cuter and so much more polished for an easy to slip-on shoe! The simplicity of this shoe makes it very versatile and therefore easy to match with all sorts of different styles. If the espadrille has already been around for 4000 years then it’s not about to go out of fashion now!! If you're going to want a pair to give you season after season of wear, stick with a neutral tone in a classic style. I however, tend to prefer the more colorful options! Here are a few graphic espadrilles that I have my eye on:

What to Wear: Wedding Season!

It's that time of year again, when church bells are ringing and love is in the air! Yup, that's right- it's wedding season!  I've teamed up with Renee from Style with a Story and Meghan from Everyday Fashion and Finance to bring you What to Wear: Wedding Season!

You've received the invitation for your friend's wedding in the mail, and happily started shopping for the perfect gift, when all of a sudden it hits you...what on earth are you going to wear?!

We've come up with some helpful tips to guide you as you plan for the big event!

Looking at the invitation will of course help you in knowing where to start in terms of what kind of wedding it is.  Does the intricacy of the invitation point to formal wedding, or does the simplicity of the invitation point to a casual wedding?  Commonly, if it's a black tie affair, the bride will include that on the invitation.

The setting of the wedding will likely determine your attire.  If it's outdoors, avoid anything too flowy in case you get caught in a bad wind storm.  If it's a beach wedding, avoid stilettos that will sink into the sand.

Daytime Wedding/ Casual Wedding

Casual usually means anything goes, but to be on the safe side, dressing business casual is a wise choice!

For her
  • a floral dress
  • a skirt and a sweater set with heels
  • a light colored suit
  • a pretty hat that coordinates with your outfit
  • light makeup and natural hair
  • minimal jewelry- dangly earrings would be the perfect touch
For him
  • a light colored suit, especially linen or seersucker in the summertime
  • a dress shirt, tie and dress pants (dress this look up with a blazer)

Semi-formal Evening Wedding

Semi-formal wedding attire varies depending on the time of the wedding, however it is wise to lean more towards a formal look.

For her
  • a cocktail dress
  • a dressy suit
  • a dressy skirt and top
  • light makeup with a dramatic eye, sleek or curled hair, moderate jewelry
For him
  • a dark suit
  • a blazer with slacks and a nice tie

Evening Wedding

Dress  | Heels | Bag | Earrings | Bracelet

Black Tie Wedding

This is the most formal of all wedding dress codes and generally means the wedding is an evening affair.

For her
  • a formal dress, sometimes floor length
  • a fancy cocktail dress
  • beaded or sequins clutches or purses and fancy wraps
  • glamorous jewelry and dramatic makeup and hair
For him
  • a tuxedo is the only way to go.  If you don't have one, you should rent one.

Black Tie WeddingGown | Sandals | Clutch | Earrings | Bracelet

What NOT to Wear

1.) Do not wear white.
Although this rule may be seem old-fashioned and outdated, don't test it...unless of course you want various scowls thrown your way! :) It's the bride's big day and you wouldn't want it to look like you're trying to upstage her.

2.) Do not wear black to a daytime wedding
Black is too dark and drab for a daytime wedding. Chose something with a lighter, airy feel.

3.) Jeans
Jeans are never acceptable to wear to a wedding, no matter how casual the wedding seems.

4.) Anything sexy or too revealing.
If you wouldn't want your friend's grandma to see you in the dress, it's likely you shouldn't wear it!

5.) Anything with holes, rips, stains, or something too big/small for you.
Keep it classy and elegant.  You'll be in tons of pictures and you should want to look your best!

6.) Anything sleeveless or strapless to a religious wedding.
Be respectful and bring a wrap or jacket to cover your shoulders.

Do you have any weddings lined up for the summer?
Don't forget to hop on over to Meghan and  Renee's Blogs and say hello!

A Little Sparkle

It is already Monday again! Don't the weekends always seem to fly by? This weekend was especially short for us since we spent ten hours in class on Saturday. I am definitely looking forward to the three-day weekend for Memorial Day and of course to school letting out for summer (only 13 more school days)! We did manage to squeeze in a date night and I wore this beaded top from Francesca's with nude accessories for a snappy casual look. I love dining out on a patio and enjoying what little bit of spring-like weather we have here in Texas.

Get the Look:
Top: Francesca's (option) | Denim: Loft (option) | Heels: Jessica Simpson

Gingham + Pink

Like many others, I am crazy about gingham. It is such a versatile item that goes with so many things in my closet. In the fall/winter I probably wore gingham three times per week because I loved the added pop it gave when layering it under my sweaters. Now that the temperate is rising, I have been wearing it as a stand alone piece. I especially love pairing gingham with bright colored pants for a more preppy feel. The one trend I have yet to try with gingham is pattern mixing, which I hope to try soon. I am loving the subtle mix of gingham paired with floral prints, skirts in particular! Check out how I am wearing gingham today:

Get the Look:
Shirt: Old Navy (option) | Pants: Old Navy | Wedges: Target | Bracelets: J.Crew, Luxe Craving | Necklace: J.Crew Factory (old) | Earrings: J.Crew Factory

Are you as crazy about gingham as I am? How do you like to wear it?
Have you tried mixing it with other patterns?

J.Crew Look for Less

I love everything at J.Crew - the clothes, the shoes, the jewelry, and the handbags! But as much as I love J.Crew, I don't always love their prices. That is what sent me searching for a more affordable alternative to their gorgeous statement necklaces. I have posted some other looks for less here, but wanted to share these since they are quite similar to the new arrivals at J.Crew. You can purchase every look for less item below for a mere $31 more than the lowest priced J.Crew necklace in this set. That's three necklaces for practically the price of only one!
Look for Less
J.Crew Crystal Collage Necklace vs. Etsy Crystal Collage Necklace

For the above necklaces, I would definitely opt for the looks for less so I could splurge on something else. I actually purchased the Color Collage Necklace from Etsy and am very pleased with the quality of it and can't wait to pair it with fun colors for this spring/summer.

What do you think of these looks for less?

Bluebonnets

It is finally spring here in central Texas and that means bluebonnets! I always get excited when I see them in full bloom because that usually means spring is here to stay. I remember peeling back the petals of bluebonnets to reveal the "claw" inside when I was a kid and thinking that was so neat.  Another little Texas tradition is that each spring you must have your photo taken amongst the gorgeous blanket of blue blooms. I of course decided to take said photo whenever I spotted this patch of bluebonnets down the road from my house. I hope to take photos of our pups in the bluebonnets soon, if only they would cooperate.

Get the Look:
Denim: Loft (option) | Blazer: Forever 21 (option) | Blouse: Old Navy | Heels: Jessica Simpson | Bracelets: (1, 2, 3) | Sunnies: Ray Ban | Bag: Tory Burch Earrings: c/o Lori McMinn Stella&Dot

Do you have your photo taken amid the bluebonnets each year?
What are your spring time traditions?
