Yellow + Chambray

The last few days have been a little crazy since our pup, Dexter, had to have surgery on Thursday to have a growth removed from his elbow. We were instructed to keep him from running, jumping, and playing to prevent his stitches from being ripped out. Trust me, that has been no small feat considering how hyper and playful our Dex is! And luckily he has been a good boy and hasn't tried to pull his stitches out himself yet. I'm looking forward to him being able to be his usual rowdy self and not having to police him on his every move.

Anyway, I did manage to make it out to Tory Burch for the 25% off spring sale and snagged a pair of sandals and a clutch purse. They will be making an appearance on the blog soon! I also checked out J.Crew Factory's 50% off sale in stores, but of course I didn't find anything that I couldn't live without. I hate it when there are great sales and you don't find a thing, but when there isn't a sale you always want everything!

Cork Friday Finds

I'm sure you all have heard " put a cork in it", but now you can actually wear it as a shoe or carry it as a clutch! Cork is back in a big way for spring and summer. You all have probably seen the fabulous Kate Spade cap toe flats  and if you're like me, you didn't want to spend $228 on them! In my search for an alternative pair that would still offer the brightly colored cap toe, but at a more affordable price I came across these cap toe flats from GoJane. They are available in the coral and seafoam colors shown here as well as black, and for the $20 price tag I could afford to buy all three pair for less than half the cost of the Kate Spade pair!

Fly Away?

Fly Away? Not yet, but hopefully soon for summer vacation! It is that time of year to start planning for summer trips. I have always been told to book trips three months in advance to get the best deal so it's about time for me to start looking for trip ideas. Last summer we went to Costa Rica and had an amazing time white-water rafting and zip-lining so I figure another adventure trip is in order. I've been looking into some ultimate adventure trips in Belize which would include cave tubing, zip-lining, and hiking, but I would like to find some other options too. When planning trips I always try to get the best deal by comparing different sites such as Kayak, Expedia, Apple Vacations, and Travelocity to name a few. I also always read the reviews from Trip Advisor since there is nothing worse than arriving at your destination only to find that it is nothing like the photos you saw when booking it!

What to Wear: Bridal Shower

It is that time of year! Wedding season is upon us! If they haven't already, invitations to all things bridal will start filling our mailboxes. What comes along with the invitations, besides the gifts and parties, are dresses. Lots and lots of dresses. The bridal shower attire can often be the trickiest to plan. As with all things, there are some general rules of thumb when it comes to planning your bridal shower attire.  I have teamed up with two of my favorite bloggers, Meghan from Everyday Fashion and Finance and Renee from Style with a Story, to share our favorite ways to dress for a bridal shower. Check out our looks and some tips for planning your bridal shower outfit below!

Bethany's Bridal Shower Look

What to Wear to a Bridal Shower

Tips for Planning Bridal Shower Attire

1. Don't Wear Solid White
Let the Bride shine on her special day. Enough said.

2. Don't Wear Solid Black
Solid black is too reminiscent of a funeral or mourning.

3. Don't Wear Red
Red is too "look at me". It is also supposedly a hue associated with adultery. Definitely not wedding appropriate!

4. When in Doubt, Wear Something on the Dressier Side
No one wants to be underdressed. Opt for a dress, if the dress code isn't clear.

5. Keep It Daytime and Grandma Appropriate
Go for a classic and feminine look with a simple cut. Avoid anything super tight or showing too much skin.

6. Go for Color or Prints
A bridal shower is a great excuse to wear a fun, colorful dress. Go for solid bright colors like pink or yellow. Try a fun print like florals, polka dots or classic stripes. Or accent a classic navy dress with a colorful statement necklace.

What will you be wearing this wedding season? Do you have a go-to bridal shower look?

The Liebster Award

I was nominated by one of my favorite up and coming bloggers, Meghan from Everyday Fashion and Finance for the Liebster Award! Meghan and I found each other on Instagram a couple of months ago and are both new to the blogging world! I must say that I have had so much fun building new relationships with fellow bloggers.

The Liebster Award is an award designed to promote smaller blogs with less than 200 followers. When you are nominated, you answer questions about yourself and then nominate other up and coming bloggers! Here are a few things about me that you might not have known.

1. What was your first job?
I started my first real job during my freshmen year in college where I worked as a sales associate in a local department store. I worked in the accessories department which largely consisted of Brighton items and was responsible for creating all of the displays and heading up sales events. It was so much fun that it didn't really feel like work! When looking back, I suppose I could blame this job for my obsession with jewelry and handbags, lol!

2. If you could be any celebrity for a day, who would it be and why?
Katie Couric. She worked her way up from being a desk assistant at ABC to become the world's highest paid TV personality which demonstrates some major dedication and hard work. Katie now hosts her own talk show, Katie. I think it would be so much fun to host a talk show and get to meet so many new people.

3. What is your go-to perfume scent?
My perfume collection isn't very impressive, I am guilty of finding a perfume that I like and sticking with it for quite a while. Viva La Juicy has been on rotation for a long while! It is described as combination of delicious wild berries with creamy vanilla and bright jasmine. I think it smells nice and my hubby likes it so I suppose that is all that matters :)

4. What is your guilty pleasure?
Dessert and chai tea, please. Oh, and I'll take a side of Etsy with that! I could seriously live off of dessert and chai tea from now on. At least I do get my chai tea fix from Starbucks almost every morning, but unfortunately I don't think it would be wise to indulge in dessert everyday too. It just isn't fair that we can't eat whatever we want and stay in shape. As for Etsy, if you follow me on Instagram you already know that I have a slight obsession with look for less statement necklaces! I have found so many awesome dupes on Etsy and for such amazing prices! And then there is Tory Burch, one of my absolute favorite places for shoes, accessories, and handbags. I love Tory Burch because everything is so classic and offers an understated elegance. If only money grew on trees!

5. Who is your fashion icon?
Olivia Palermo has great fashion sense and pulls off such classic chic looks by using staple pieces. She is an accessorizing queen!

6. What is the next thing you are dying to add to your wardrobe?
I just added the Tory Burch Robinson Double Zip Tote to my wardrobe this past week so I'm pretty content for the time being (I really hope my hubby doesn't see this and pass out). Although the J.Crew Color Mix Statement Necklace would make a great addition for this spring/summer now that you have me thinking about it.

7. Do you prefer going to classes at the gym or doing your own routine?
Well, that would require me to actually go to the gym. Once upon a time, I was a spin class addict, but now I just don't seem to have the time. My current routine typically consists of running after work whenever I have someone to run with. Although I do need to start making the time and get motivated to go back to the gym.

8. What is your favorite snack?
My recent favorite is dark chocolate covered blueberries/pomegranate and now that it is warming up I enjoy fresh fruit with a little side of homemade fruit dip.

9. What is your idea of the perfect night out with the ladies?
Dinner and wine at Studio Movie Grill is always a great time. We also have happy hours at each others homes where we all bring our favorite snack and a bottle of wine to share! The perfect Saturday would include lunch and shopping followed by mani/pedi's.

10. What got you into blogging?
I have always wanted to start a blog, but did not know what to blog about. I am not much of a writer so I figured I would have nothing to say on a blog, I blame it on being a math and science nerd. I didn't think anyone would want to read it or that people wouldn't like it. A few months ago I joined Instagram and have gained quite a following which has reassured me that readers might at least be interested in the photos I would have to share and decided to give it a shot. My style has changed throughout the years and I finally feel like I have found "my style". I have learned a lot about remixing items that I already own instead of having to always go out and purchase new clothing, but rest assured I still do plenty of shopping too! I love finding awesome deals and am so happy to be able to share them with you.

So, that is a little about me!

For the Liebster Award, I nominate:

Angela at Method Clothe

Remember to pass this nomination on!

Thank you so much for the nomination, Meghan!

Chevron + Bows

The outdoor mall close to our house finally had a Francesca's open a couple of months ago. Until now, I had only shopped there once or twice every two months since there wasn't one very close. Since, I have found that it is best to shop smaller boutique stores often in order to catch the new arrivals before they are sold out! Last week when I was shopping I came across this chevron top and couldn't resist it after seeing the bow detail on the sleeve. Who can say no to chevron and bows?! After the shock of finding it wore off, I started questioning how much wear I would get out of it with it being such a bold print. So I stood there taking mental inventory of my closet and decided it would meet my criteria of being able to wear it three ways and brought it home with me! Here is my first attempt at styling it. I also plan to pair it with some mint jeans soon.

Friday Finds for Less

I have recently developed an obsession for statement necklaces and I blame Instagram! In the past, I rarely ever wore them or any other type of necklace for that matter because I didn't know what to wear them with! Now, I find myself planning an entire outfit around the necklace I want to wear. With that being said, it is hard not to love all of the gorgeous pieces that are in J.Crew's line up. I want them all, but unfortunately my budget won't allow that. While perusing Etsy I stumbled across a few J.Crew looks for less and decided to put them together with a few others I found at Forever 21.

I have ordered a few items from various sellers on Etsy and have had good luck so far although I know some have not been so lucky. I would recommend contacting the seller regarding their return/exchange policies prior to making your purchase. Also, keep in mind that some of the items are being shipped from China and may take longer than others to arrive. I was able to find a seller that has a shipping turnaround time of 7-10 business days which is far better than the typical 4-6 weeks!

J.Crew Neon Azalea Sunflower Necklace vs.  Forever 21 Coral Faux Stone Fringe Necklace
J.Crew Crystal Drops Necklace vs. Etsy Candy Gem Drop Necklace

You can purchase all of the J.Crew look for less items for $111 which is still $37 less than the price of the J.Crew Crystal Drops Necklace!

Would you choose to splurge or save?

Spring Chic

Earlier this week I posted a Tuesday "three-fer" where I showed you three different ways to style this printed Gap shirt. So today, I wanted to share my favorite look. I opted for the Spring Chic look since it offers a more casual and relaxed feel. Boyfriend jeans and wedges are my go-to items for spring and summer because I love being comfy yet chic!

Wish List Wednesday

I have been on the hunt for the perfect neutral handbag, you know that handbag that will go with any outfit? Of course, the first one I came across was the ever so fabulous Prada Saffiano Lux Tote, but unfortunately its price tag is not so fabulous! I continued with my search until I stumbled upon this Tory Burch Robinson Double Zip Tote which costs about one third less than the Prada bag and immediately added it to my wishlist. This bag is at the very top of my list and I can envision carrying it with practically every outfit this spring and summer!
 Wish List Wednesday

J.Crew Factory Sweater | Forever 21 Top | J.Crew Cap Toe Flats | Tory Burch Tote |
 J.Crew Necklace | Kate Spade Bracelet | J.Crew Jeans

When purchasing a larger ticket item, I always first consider if it will be a timeless staple in my closet. I also consider if the item is trendy or a classic piece. After much consideration, I decided that the Robinson Tote would be a handbag that I would be able to carry for many years to come!

What is your favorite neutral handbag?
Are any of these items currently on your wish list?

Tuesday Three-fer

I don't know about you, but when I purchase an item I want it to be versatile. I hate buying something only to find that I am limited in how I can style it. If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I participated in the Closet Remix Challenge during the month of February. For those of you that are not familiar with the challenge, it is where you can only shop your own closet for thirty days. That's right, no shopping for thirty days! I honestly didn't think that I would last a week, but much to my surprise I was able to make it the whole month. I will say that the challenge opened my eyes to how much I had been shopping and made me realize that I could have been creating "new" outfits just by remixing with items that I already owned. So today, I bring you a "three-fer" on how to wear this fun Gap top.

Lunch Date

Any time I have a day off from school, I enjoy meeting up with my husband for a lunch date. So today we will be taking advantage and doing just that. My hubby recently started a new job so I am excited to see his office and meet his new co-workers. As with any day off I always try to squeeze in a little shopping, too! I decided to wear this colorful top from Target that I picked up last week with nude heels and a statement necklace.

I think it is definitely safe to say that I have been on a pink kick lately! I am naturally drawn to bright colors anyway, but I especially love the flirty and feminine vibe that wearing hot pink accomplishes. I am keeping our date night simple this evening by pairing this Forever 21 top with a crystal statement necklace and my favorite bow flats. These flats have been on rotation quite a bit lately since I have finally broken them in!

I don't know about you, but I am so glad that it is Friday! This will actually be a three-day weekend for me since there is no school on Monday, woohoo!! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Eyelet Love

I'm loving all of the eyelet pieces making their way into stores for spring. While white eyelet is a classic, I particularly like the colorful items shown in this set. Shocker that I would opt for color! The eyelet look is great for spring and summer because it gives a lighter, airier feel while still being super feminine. Whether as an accent or an all-over look, eyelet fabric adds an elegant panache to spring.

Eyelet Love

Old Navy Eyelet Dress / J.Crew Factory Top / Old Navy Top Old Navy Skirt J.Crew Eyelet Capri

When wearing eyelet fabrics keep it simple and try not to mix too many patterns and textures which can be overwhelming. Also, if your eyelet top doesn't have an underlay, try wearing a contrasting or bright color camisole underneath for a fun pop of color.

So, tell me - have you tried the eyelet trend?
Which of these items would you purchase?

Neon + Ikat

Chances are that if you're not from Canada or haven't been shopping in New York lately, then you haven't been able to get your hands on the Joe Fresh line until the recent JCPenney launch. Early this spring, Joe Fresh launched its line in over 700 JCPenney locations throughout the US. While on Spring Break I picked up these ikat print pants along with a chambray shirt. I have been thoroughly impressed with the quality of the line considering the reasonable prices.

In the past, I rarely purchased printed pants because I felt like I would be limited in ways to style them, but I have been proven wrong. I have worn these paired with a chambray top and a statement necklace for a casual look, and today I paired them with a neon sweater to give off a bright spring vibe. I am also finding that it is easy to change up a look by incorporating different accessories.

Have you had a chance to shop the Joe Fresh line at JCPenney yet?
If so, what are your favorite items?

The Fan Fringe necklace is definitely a current favorite for me and many others. It is proving to be quite versatile since you can dress it up or dress it down for almost any occasion.
