Family Room Makeover

I always love a good project and re-decorating our family room has been at the top of my list ever since we finished up my office (see my office makeover here). With our dark floors and chocolate leather couch, I felt like we needed to add some color to brighten things up a bit. So, I scoured Pinterest for some inspiration and finally came up with a plan which involved keeping our existing furniture and adding all new accessories!

We began the process by first selecting a new rug. We knew we wanted something geometric and that would compliment a wide variety of colors and this rug was exactly what I had been looking for!  Next on the list was the daunting task of finding decorative pillows that didn't cost an arm and a leg. So needless to say, I did a little happy dance when the hubs and I stumbled across the mother-load of  decorative pillows at Stein Mart! We ended up purchasing all of our pillows there with the exception of two covers I had previously ordered and for what I would consider cheap...score!! To bring the look together, I picked up various accessories here and there that complimented our color scheme along with some fresh flowers and voila we have a bright new family room! Have you done any projects around your home recently?

  1. Ooooooo I love this! So pretty! I love all of the bright, fresh, summery colors! It looks so inviting and bright and fun! I like to have my main pieces neutral (usually white, cream, or brown) and then change the accessories to switch up the feel of the room. It is much less expensive to switch out a few accessories and change the entire atmosphere of a room than to get new furniture or paint!
